Effects of Cyclophosphamide in the Experimental Silicosis

Abstract
|
|
|
The authors have studied and investigated the histopathology of the lung tissue of experimental silicosis after administration of cyclophosphamide.
The materials consisted of 20 white male rats, weighing 200gm each, and were dividedinto three groups: the control group(in 5number), experimental group Ⅰ(8rats), and experimental group Ⅱ(7rats).
The results are summarized as follows:
In both control group, and experimental group Ⅰ and Ⅱ, 50㎎ of silica dust suspended in 0.5㎖ of saline was administered into the trachea, cyclophosphamide 4㎎ was administered intramusculary to experimental group Ⅰ for 7 days experimental group Ⅱ for 10 days.
After 115 days we performed an autopsy and examined lung tisuues microspically.
1. All animal in control group showed gronulomas around bronchial wall, while the granulomas couldnot be found in the lung of both experimental groups.
2. It was felt that cyclophosphamide has a inhibitory effect in the development of histopathological change of silicosis. However, further study may be required for confirmation.
